Strayboar travels to Iceland!! ...in 2017. Ha!!
This is the trip where the Strayboar concept really took shape. Prior to Iceland, we'd done group trips together. A camping trip here, a canoe trip there. Hours spent panning for gold or scouring beaches for stones. But never a 12 day journey to another country without a plan.
What we realized on this trip, was that we were not only able to work together. We were able to seamlessly coordinate an amazing trip out of thin air. On a shoestring budget. Living under an open sky, free of expectation, and never at odds. All cards on the table, we had a truck rental and three rucksacks packed for whatever situations might come up. Jetboil stoves with coffee, sleeping gear, chew and clothes.
The entire trip was full of dumb luck and brilliant circumstance. We traveled roads with no names that ended in expansive fields of black obsidian. Followed paths to green fields of wandering sheep. Sat immersed in mountain streams that were too hot to step in the further up you travelled. Wondered at the still raw landscape and beautiful people that inhabit this place. This trip taught us that with a common goal all three of us could make positive things happen. As positive things happen, the result is peace.
Moving forward at this point in 2017, we hadn't even considered editing any video together. So what you're seeing is raw and unscripted. Very much the feeling that you experience when traveling areas off the beaten path. We hope you're able to feel even a fraction of the energy we felt in this country. Enjoy.
