A Blade with Deep Roots

Hey everyone, Royce here. I realize I've been kind of quiet the last year or 5 and I intend on clarifying why in a later post. In the interim I'll begin to share a little of what I've been working on in the last little while. I've even been out of my knife shop since covid started but have been itching to get back at it for
a long while as well. This first piece will be sold to raise money for our Ukraine project in particular, as it's become apparent that travel isn't getting any cheaper any time soon.

​For this special project we've sourced some really special handle material in this centuries old pressure stabilized Ukrainian oak. The log remained preserved, after being submerged in a bog without exposure to oxygen. This piece of wood has been carbon dated to over 5700 years old. The beautiful greys and browns have been dyed into the wood from the tannins of the flora and fauna that have fed the bog for centuries

The steel is tried and true A2 carbon steel heat treated to 61 HRC, in my own survival/bushcraft style blade. While in my own opinion, it's an eye pleasing combination, but rest assured it's capable of intense work if required. I'll be sure to post pictures as the work progresses!
