I’ll start by saying for the last four years I have been on a journey of healing and the reorganization of my own consciousness. I have lived in many different places across Canada; all wonderful in their own right. I started out in Winnipeg, Manitoba, travelled west, then east, then across the pond and back; most of the time I was just running away from pain.
I’ve had dozens of jobs but eventually I migrated to the one job I felt I had to do. I’m not entirely sure how I was driven to be in the military (I have a theory though) but that is where I thought I wanted to be. It’s been, at separate times, both catastrophically painful and joyfully surreal. Sometimes, it can be difficult to convey and comprehend. It was an egoistic roller coaster of adventure and despair. However, I believe I’m now on a path of healing and transition.

Without a doubt it has been the people that I’ve encountered both good and not so good, that have brought me to the point I’m at today. Some of them made me think of shooting myself and others really nurtured me and held me together. Some have done neither. Some have done both.
I’m beginning to understand a little bit more why this experience has gone the way it has and in return the knowledge gained from it that I can offer to others. It’s time for me to start giving back and helping others, beginning with other veterans and their families. Even though everyone’s journey is their own, I’d like to play a positive part, and assist where I can, when I can. |
Through the collective efforts of Royce, Seth, me, and our families, we have become Strayboar, and through Strayboar, we will make a difference.
I get by with a little help from my friends.
